6/6 blanks tonight. Opened all 3 games with bingoes (although one was a phoney. warpost... bzzt, postwar!)
Anyways, here's my game with Pat, a club player who definitely has some potential to improve if he learns his basics (2's, 3's etc.) Nothing too special about it, just showing a microcosm of my luck.

I thought this game was much longer than 20 turns apiece, it sure felt like it.

round 2 vs. olivia durant
Other than my 2 missed bingoes, I'm pretty happy with how I played this one.

round 3 vs. Ted Rosen. I had a bunch of easy but fun plays in this one.
Glad to have finally fully recorded some games, even if i made a mistake on the last one.
Comments are welcome of course.

Club in Rochester Tomorrow
Played pretty meh. Played more phoneys in my first game against Matt Gross than I played at all of Albany. I got away with abducate* (it's abdicate) and abducates* (it's still abdicates.) Then I tried puni*, which was rightly challenged (I was probably combining puri and puna or something). I still won by over 100.
Game 2 I beat Sal Campo because he created too much volatility to a relatively closed board at the wrong time.
Game 3 I lose to Sal Piro in a nailbiter. I kept messing up the scoring by 1 at the end, but I lost by 8 so it didn't matter. An interesting game throughout. Surprisingly no bingoes in aegost? go through de and ox, which would have won me the game. Sal owed me for Albany, and I don't mind losing to him since he's a good player and a nice guy.
Game 4 I play against Jack Eichenbaum like I was trying to catch a train (I was.) I still played fine though, and it was his mistake (misplacement of a bingo) that cost him the game.
I think I came in second, but I couldn't stick around to collect my prize.
That's it for scrabble for a while. I go back up to Rochester on Sunday. Even after I get out, I probably won't be going to club quite as often. There used to be something missing in my game, and it turns out I just needed to learn to relax. I was able to do that better in a club setting than at tournaments, but now I feel like I have that same advantage in tournaments. Of course, club is a lot of fun, but from train tickets to subway fares to the entry fee (even with the discount) it can get to be expensive. Also, it can be a hassel to my family, as I found out last night (causing an argument between my brother and my mom which gave me a headache, but I won't get into that.)
My next tournament will either be Saratoga Springs, some 1-dayer somewhere, or... Some... multi-dayer (arden? rockland? who knows?)

* Out play
** The only way i could lose was if i challenged unsuccessfully.
Playing decently, but I feel like I'm trying too hard at times. I completely blew my game against Keith Hagel (didn't challenge a phoney,) and my other loss was just a bagging. I felt dirty winning my game against Sal Piro. I accidentally played dou* instead of duo (It's not a 4) and then the bag COMPLETELY bailed me out. I had two spots to bingo, he blocked the 3x3, and I won by 11. He was pretty upset, and had every right to be. Also blew a bunch of spread against Judy Cole's ridiculous phoney, but whatever. I'm having a great time here. The only thing that would make it better was if a couple of canadians (
tunnicliffe and
quinquennia were here... Oh and also if He Who Must Not Be Named weren't the only 6-0 in any of the divisions.
1. How are the early birds going? Anyone in particular kicking major ass?
2. On NYE, are people planning on doing a hibachi/cheezcake factory run? Anything other than the hotel dinner (I can't even do the party, I'm underage :( )

My ride to Albany fell apart, and I'm looking for a ride. If anyone is going by Ardsley, would they be able to pick me up?
Opening up triple triple lanes is not a good strategy when you're up by 80.
Also, don't challenge redon when it's the only way you can lose.
